#### Some hosts offer conveniences or gear you can add to your trip. These Extras are always optional; you aren’t required to purchase them to book a host’s vehicle.

## About Extras

Extras are optional add-ons to your trip. They fall into two categories: conveniences or gear. Not all hosts offer Extras, but if they do, you’ll see them displayed on their **Vehicle** page. We’ll never require you to purchase an Extra to be allowed to book a car. You can choose Extras when you book your trip, or add or delete them up until the time your trip starts.

## Popular Extras

One of our most popular Extras is prepaid refuel. If you purchase a prepaid refuel Extra, your host can’t charge you for missing fuel post trip, and you won’t receive a refund for any unused fuel.

Another popular Extra is a pet Extra. If you purchase a pet Extra, your host could still report a cleaning issue and charge a violation fee if there’s evidence of a post-trip cleaning issue that could have only resulted from irresponsible or abusive behavior.

Other popular Extras are beach gear, booster seats, child safety seats, coolers, one-way trips, prepaid EV recharge, strollers, and unlimited miles.

**Note about child safety seats:** While some hosts do offer a child safety seat Extra, we encourage you to use your own child safety seat and to refer to reputable resources for how to install it. If you need help installing a child safety seat in your host’s vehicle, we advise you to seek out a professional, for example, by visiting a local fire station. If you do plan to purchase a child safety seat Extra, you can filter your search results to find host vehicles that offer this Extra.

## Cost of Extras

Hosts set a price from $0\* to $999\* for an Extra and price them per day or per trip, so read the item carefully. We’ll display the cost of any Extras as a separate line item on the checkout screen before you book your trip. If, at the start of a trip, a host doesn’t provide you with a physical item Extra you purchased, we’ll refund you the cost of that item.

## Protection plan coverage for Extras

Extras aren’t covered under any protection plan made available through Turo, and Turo isn’t responsible for the condition of Extras. Turo isn’t liable for any damage, injury, bodily harm, or losses of any kind caused by Extras or the use of Extras. Hosts may request reimbursement related to lost or damaged Extras. If they do, it’ll be outside of Turo, without our involvement, and in compliance with our [Terms of Service](https://turo.com/policies/terms).

## Prohibited Extras

Turo prohibits hosts from offering certain Extras. These include: illegal, lewd, or inappropriate items; food, alcohol, drugs, or weapons; the use of rentable properties; deposits or convenience fees; tows or tow services; anything that violates Turo’s [Terms of Service](https://turo.com/policies/terms), [Prohibited uses](https://support.turo.com/hc/articles/203990570), or [Community Guidelines](https://turo.com/us/en/policies/community-guidelines). If you discover a host is offering any prohibited Extras, tap **“Report this listing”** on the **Vehicle** page.
