#### You must meet the specific requirements listed here to book a car in Australia. If you’re booking a car in another Turo location, check the booking requirements for the [US](https://help.turo.com/H1gxVVeE9), [Canada](https://help.turo.com/ByHbS9wRT), [France](https://help.turo.com/SJgUrcDAp), or the [UK](https://help.turo.com/HJHcScP0p).

## Booking requirements

You **don’t need to create an account**, and you **don’t need your own insurance** to book a car on Turo.

You must be:

* **21 or older** at the time of booking

* **25 and older** to book a [Deluxe Class](https://help.turo.com/deluxe-class-and-super-deluxe-class-eligibility-Syv7H4lV5) vehicle

* **30 and older to** book a [Super Deluxe Class](https://help.turo.com/deluxe-class-and-super-deluxe-class-eligibility-Syv7H4lV5), classic, or specialty vehicle

You must **pay a young driver fee of $25/day if you’re ages 21 to 24.** Young driver fees can’t be waived, excused, or be refunded once you’ve completed a trip.

You must have a **valid, full, active licence** _**OR**_ **a temporary licence** **v****alid at the start and through the end of the trip** _**and**_ **accompanied by your physical expired licence or passport.**

A valid licence is one that’s not altered, expired, suspended, or revoked. It can’t be **conditional**, **probational**, **provisional**, or **restricted**. A temporary licence is a paper document that allows you to legally drive for a defined period while you wait for your licence to be issued or arrive in the mail.  Turo doesn’t accept learner’s permits/instruction permits, digital licences, or licences re-issued under any probationary restrictions following recent disqualification from a court.

**If you** **have a licence issued by a country outside of Australia,** Turo requires it be a valid, permanent licence issued by your home country. **If your home country's licence isn’t written in English,** you must also have an [International Driving Permit](https://help.turo.com/temporary-licenses-and-international-driver's-permits-HkOgVExE9) _**OR**_ an official English translation of your home country's licence

**Guests booking a Ultra High Performance Vehicle (UHPV) in South Australia** who hold a South Australia licence must have a [U class licence](https://www.mylicence.sa.gov.au/my-ultra-high-powered-vehicle-licence/frequently-asked-questions). Guests from other Australian states or outside Australia may use their standard licence.

## Booking information entered at checkout

**To book your first trip**, you’ll enter the following information at checkout:

*   **

    **First and last name**

    **
* **Email address**: Enter an email address that’s not tied to any other Turo account

* **Phone number**: Make sure your phone can accept text messages

* **Payment method**: Enter information for one of the [payment methods Turo accepts](https://help.turo.com/en_us/payment-methods-turo-accepts-B1kfEutwee). You must have a payment card or an Apple Wallet or Google Wallet account on file to pay for any post-trip incidental costs or vehicle damage for which you’re found to be responsible.

**If you’re booking with less than three hours lead time before your trip starts,** we’ll ask you to verify your phone number and to enter your driver’s licence information at checkout**.**  If you didn’t add or decline protection, we’ll prompt you to do so before your trip begins.

**If your license is expired or will expire while your trip is in progress,** you’ll need to provide an updated driver’s license before your trip starts.

Once you’ve booked your trip, we’ll send an email confirming the booking. You can cancel at no cost within our [free cancellation period](https://turo.com/us/en/policies/cancellation). You can only book one vehicle at a time. The dates and times of another trip may not overlap with the dates and times of any other trip you’ve already booked.

## Completing post-booking steps

**If you booked your first trip with more than three hours lead time,** you must complete a few quick, post-booking steps: confirm your phone number, upload your driver’s licence, and add or decline protection, if you haven’t already done so.

We’ll display a checklist of these items for you and send regular reminders for you to complete these steps no later than two hours before your trip is scheduled to start; otherwise, the trip will be canceled.

## Verifying your information

We may ask for [additional photos](https://help.turo.com/verification-photos-SycgNVlV9) and information and/or may check your personal and/or business credit report, auto insurance score, and criminal background to verify your account. When you create an account, you give Turo written instructions and permission in line with the [Privacy Act 1998 (AU)](https://www.legislation.gov.au/C2004A03712/2019-08-13/text) or similar laws to obtain this information. If you enter the same information (e.g, email address, driver’s licence number, etc), as another Turo user, you won’t be able to book. Turo has the right to decline your trip request and remove you from the platform because of your criminal background, driving record, or any other reason.
