Canceling a trip with your host
You can cancel most trips yourself without contacting Turo. You may be eligible for a refund depending on the type of trip you booked and when you cancel.
Free cancellations
Refundable and non-refundable trips
You may cancel a trip with your host free of charge within the following timeframes. Read the complete details of Turo’s Cancellation policy for information about cancellations outside the free period and guest no-shows.
We’ll refund you in full when you cancel a refundable trip:
- up to 24 hours before the scheduled start of a trip
- one hour after booking if you booked within 24 hours of the trip’s scheduled start
We’ll refund you in full when you cancel a non-refundable trip:
- up to 24 hours after booking
Unsafe or unsatisfactory vehicles
If you receive a vehicle that doesn’t meet legal requirements or is unsafe, dirty, or smells of smoke, follow these guidelines to cancel the trip and potentially be eligible for a refund.
How to cancel a trip
Notify your host via Turo messaging as soon as possible. Then, process the cancellation yourself via Turo’s app or website.
On the app
- Open the Trips tab
- Tap the trip you’d like to update
- Tap “Change trip” and tap “Cancel trip”
- Verify cancellation details
- Select your reason for canceling
- (If prompted) Share more about the cancellation reason
- (If prompted) Choose one of these options — “Request change,”“Call support,” or “Call host”—if you’d still like to cancel, tap “Continue to cancel”
- (If prompted) Send a message to your host notifying them of the cancellation
- Choose a refund option and complete the cancellation
- Reopen the trip and confirm the cancellation; all cancellations are immediate
On the web
- Open the drop-down menu next to your profile photo in the upper right of the screen
- Choose Trips from the menu
- Find and open the trip you’d like to update
- Click “Change trip” and click “Cancel trip”
- Verify cancellation details
- Select your reason for canceling
- (If prompted) Send a message to your host notifying them of the cancellation
- Click “Update” to save
