## Confirm the guest’s license at check-in

The first step in the check-in process is for hosts to confirm a guest’s license. If you’re conducting check-in remotely, tap **“View Photos”** at the bottom of the trip’s reservation details page and use these photos to confirm the guest’s license.

If the guest hasn’t submitted photos by the time you begin check-in, you can skip ahead in the process and document the vehicle’s condition. However, you must complete license confirmation once the guest submits their photos.

One hour before a trip starts, we’ll display the option to “**Confirm license manually**” at the bottom of the verification status screen. If your guest hasn’t submitted photos within one hour of trip start or if the two of you have already agreed to meet in person, use this option to confirm their license when you meet. Don’t ask guests to upload photos to Trip photos or via text message unless instructed by a customer support agent or member of our Verification team. **You must complete license confirmation before a trip starts or risk Turo voiding your **protection tied to your earnings plan.****

If your guest hasn’t submitted photos within one hour of trip start and you are unable to meet them in person, [cancel the trip](https://help.turo.com/canceling-a-trip-with-your-guest-HkkzLVlE5).

## Document the vehicle’s condition at check-in

Hosts have 24 hours before trip start to take pre-trip photos of the [vehicle’s interior, exterior, odometer, and fuel/EV charge levels](https://help.turo.com/trip-photos-guide-or-hosts-BkKcBEeN5). You have up to 24 hours after trip start to upload pre-trip photos. Our system requires you to add photo evidence to any invoices you send for incidental costs or post-trip issues you report (like cleaning, smoking, or damage). Photos also help Turo support you in case of disputes. Photos must contain metadata showing date, time, and geolocation.

## Allow your guest vehicle access to complete check-in

Once hosts confirm their guest’s license and upload their vehicle photos, hand the key to the guest or safely make it available using remote vehicle access technology. If you’re using a lockbox, share the code with your guest and advise them to contact you if they have any difficulties. Customer support is unable to provide lockbox instructions to guests. **Don’t give vehicle access to a guest you haven’t confirmed.**

**UK hosts** who use a remote key exchange solution, must secure the key inside a lockbox in the vehicle and, where applicable, change the combination after each trip. Failure to do so could void the vehicle  protection plan.

## Take and upload photos at checkout

Hosts have up to 24 hours after trip end to take and upload post-trip photos that document the vehicle’s interior, exterior, odometer, and fuel/EV charge levels. You have up to 24 hours after trip end to [report vehicle damage](https://help.turo.com/reporting-damage-Bk7aIWhHi).
