Selecting pickup and return

You can select your preferred pickup and return location when searching for a vehicle on Turo.

Choosing a pickup location

When you search for a vehicle using an address or name of an airport, train station, or hotel, Turo will display all available vehicles at and near that location. Filter by “Pickup Option” to see only vehicles available at the location you entered or only vehicles available near the location you entered.

Paying for pickup/return

A host may charge a delivery fee to bring a vehicle to you and to pick it back up at that location.

To see if there’s a delivery fee for the vehicle you’re interested in, tap/click the pencil icon in the “Pickup & return location” field of the vehicle listing. Turo will display a delivery fee on the checkout page for the trip and charge it at the time you book.

If you add delivery to a booked trip, we’ll charge the delivery fee then. If you remove delivery from your trip, we’ll initiate a refund to your payment method on file. You must pay for delivery via the Turo system. Paying hosts directly violates Turo’s Gray market transaction policy and Terms of Service.

Paying an airport fee

Turo has delivery agreements at many airports in the US and Canada. These agreements make it possible for hosts to deliver vehicles at those locations. If you request delivery to one of these airports, your trip will include a fee that Turo must collect and remit to that airport. Turo doesn't set this fee, mark it up, or retain any portion of it. This fee is separate from any delivery fee charged by the host. Turo will display this fee on the trip checkout screen as an “Airport fee,” “Concession recovery fee,” License recovery fee,” or “Operator fee,” as named in the agreement.

Paying a parking fee

If you're picking up a vehicle in a parking facility that requires you to pay a fee to exit, the host must disclose that information in their vehicle listing. Read the listing carefully before you book to learn if there’s a parking fee associated with pickup, and if you’ll be responsible for that cost. Turo prohibits hosts from requesting reimbursement for any parking fee they must pay to retrieve their vehicle after your trip ends.

Avoiding an improper return

Turo may charge you a $50* improper return fee if you fail to respond to requests to return a vehicle, abandon a vehicle, or force a trip cancellation.

Guests in the US may incur an improper return fee if they return a vehicle to an airport parking location other than the allowable location(s). Guests can see allowable airport return parking location(s) on the Details page of their trip 24 hours after the trip starts. Turo will also send a notification 24 hours before the trip ends as a reminder to review the location list.

Changing pickup or return location

You’re not able to set one location for pickup and a different location for return when you book your trip. But once the trip has been booked or is in progress, you can request to change your pickup and/or return location. The new location must be one where the host already makes their vehicle available, or it must be within their custom pickup radius.

If you change your pickup and/or return location, it may trigger a change to your delivery fee. If you change the return location only, we’ll calculate a new delivery fee that’s a total of 50% of the pickup fee for the original location plus 50% of the fee for the new location.

If your host doesn’t respond to or declines your request to make a location change, you must pick up and/or return the vehicle at the originally booked location.

Coordinating pickup with your host

Your host may have included pickup instructions in their vehicle listing, so check there for more information. Turo has agreements at certain airports that specify where guests and hosts can pick up and return vehicles. If you’re picking up and returning a vehicle to one of those airports, Turo will display pickup/return information on the Details page of your trip. If you’re meeting in person, use Turo messaging to confirm how, where, and when you’ll meet. Hosts aren't permitted to ask guests for a ride home after dropping off their vehicle. Contact us if your host makes such a request.
