Neither distance limits nor hosts can restrict where guests are allowed to drive. Turo has rules in place governing [where guests can drive.](https://help.turo.com/driving-across-borders-r1rjLfrgi)  You can bulk apply distance settings and discounts for all your vehicles. Hosts must set duration discounts for weekly and monthly trips at or above minimum discount rates to unlock lower weekly and monthly distance limits. Otherwise, Turo calculates weekly and monthly distance limits using your daily distance limit. For example, a vehicle that includes 200 miles per day would include 1,400 miles per week and 6,000 miles per month.  ### Daily distance limits Turo sets a vehicle’s minimum distance per day based on its value and location. Hosts cannot adjust the distance limit lower than the minimum, but can increase the distance allowed or offer unlimited distance. Lower daily distance limits are available for vehicles that qualify as [Deluxe Class or Super Deluxe Class](https://help.turo.com/deluxe-class-and-super-deluxe-class-eligibility-Syv7H4lV5).  **Minimum daily distance limits – Standard Vehicles** * **US, UK**: 200 mi * **France**: 200 km * **Australia, Canada**: 300 km **Minimum daily distance limits – Deluxe Vehicles** * **US, UK**: 100 m * **France**: 150 km * **Australia, Canada**: 200 km **Minimum daily distance limits – Super Deluxe Vehicles** * **US, UK**: 75 mi * **Australia, Canada, France**: 100 km ### Weekly distance limits Turo sets a vehicle’s weekly distance limit based on its location and duration discounts, not the vehicle’s value. Standard, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe vehicles have the same distance limits for weekly trips. Hosts can change the distance limit and duration discount for weekly trips using a slider near the bottom of the **Weekly trips** page. The **Weekly trips** page also offers insights into your discount’s competitiveness and your take-home earnings.  **Weekly distance limit calculations**  * **Below 15% discount:** Weekly distance limit is your daily distance multiplied by 7.  * **At or above 15% discount:** Weekly distance limit is the minimum weekly distance limit for your location. **Weekly minimums** * **US, UK:** 1,050  mi/week (150 mi/day) * **Australia, Canada:** 1,750 km/week (250km/day) * **France:** 1,050 km/week (150 km/day) ### Monthly distance limits A vehicle’s monthly distance limit is based on its location, duration discounts, and value. You can change the distance limit and discount for monthly trips using a slider on the **Monthly trips** page. If a trip exceeds 30 days but isn’t equal to an exact number of months, we’ll use the monthly limit to determine the allowable distance.  **Monthly distance limit calculations** * **Automatic settings**: When a host lists a vehicle with a trip duration of 1 month or more,Turo’s system automatically opts it into distance and discount settings based on your daily or weekly distance and discount settings.  * **Below 45% discount and weekly < 15%:** Monthly distance is your daily discount multiplied by the number of days in the month. * **Below 45% discount and weekly 15%–44%:** Monthly distance limit is your weekly discount calculated as a daily rate multiplied by the number of days in the month. * **At or above 45% discount:** Weekly distance limit is the minimum weekly distance limit for your location and vehicle class. **Monthly minimums** * **US (Standard vehicles):** 3,300 mi/month (110 mi/day) * **US (Deluxe and Super Deluxe vehicles):** 1,800 mi/month (60 mi/day) * **Australia, Canada:** 2,700 km/month (90 km/day) * **France, UK:** 1,800 km/month (60 km/day) ## Shortened trips If a shortened trip is approved, the Turo system will adjust the total number of miles or kilometres your guest can drive based on the new number of trip days and whether hosts set a weekly and/or monthly distance limit. Here’s how it works: * If the trip is shortened to fewer than 7 days, we’ll use your daily distance limit to calculate the new trip distance * If the trip is shortened to more than 7 days but fewer than 30 days, we’ll use your weekly distance limit to calculate the new trip distance * If the trip is shortened but is still more than 30 days and you’ve set a monthly distance limit, we’ll use the monthly limit to calculate the new trip distance; if you haven’t set a monthly or weekly distance limit, we’ll use your daily distance limit to make the calculation ## Extended trips If a trip extension is approved, the distance limit for the extension will be based **only** on the length of the extension. The distance limit for the originally booked days won’t change, unless the originally booked days had unlimited mileage.  ### Extending a trip that has unlimited mileage If an extension is approved for a trip that has unlimited mileage, the extension could activate weekly or monthly distance limits. In that case, we’ll recalculate the distance limit based on the number of originally booked days plus the extension. The days for the original trip period will be calculated based on your location:   * **US & UK:** 300 miles/day * **Australia, Canada, and France:** 500 km/day ### Extending a trip that doesn’t have unlimited mileage If an extension is approved for a trip that doesn’t have unlimited mileage, Turo’s system will calculate the number of miles a guest can drive.  * If the extension is fewer than 7 days, we’ll use your daily distance limit to calculate how many miles the guest can drive during the extension  * If the extension is greater than 7 days but fewer than 30 days, we’ll use your weekly distance limit to calculate how many miles the guest can drive during the extension  * If the extension is greater than 30 days, we’ll use your monthly distance limit to calculate how many miles the guest can drive during the extension  ## Additional distance charges for guests who drive over the limit If guests drive over the distance limit, hosts can charge for [additional distance](https://help.turo.com/charging-mileage-costs-for-additional-distance-Hy5uBEeE5). We calculate cost per mi/km when the trip is booked by dividing your daily price by your daily distance. You’ll receive a percentage of the additional distance fee according to your earnings plan and its host share. Keep in mind that any trip discounts will impact the additional distance fee calculation.   **Example:** 3-day trip with a vehicle price of $100 per day and 200 miles/kilometers per day distance included. Turo will divide the total trip price ($300) by the total daily distance (600 miles/kilometers) for an additional distance fee of $0.50/miles/kilometers.
