This article only applies to UK hosts with trips booked on one of the three earnings plans available as of March 31, 2026. Follow [this link](https://support-resources.turo.com/protection/uk-host-protection-plans-available-before-33126.pdf) to see information about earnings plans available prior to March 31, 2026.

## Definition of earnings plans

Turo makes earnings plans available to hosts to cover the costs related to damage (including a total loss) or theft of a vehicle less any damage responsibility costs that apply (up to the lesser of the actual cash value of the vehicle or £70,000). The plans vary in terms of the benefits they provide. Hosts can choose a plan with or without damage responsibility costs. One plan includes reimbursement for courtesy car and reimbursement for loss of income while a vehicle is receiving repairs. Learn more about how we calculate [loss of hosting income](https://help.turo.com/loss-of-hosting-income-ByfqLEgV5). Earnings plans are not insurance; they are an agreement between Turo and hosts about how vehicle damage will be covered.

Distinct from earnings plans is the third-party auto liability insurance provided to all hosts by ERS (Syndicate 218 at Lloyd’s) managed by IQUW Syndicate Management Limited, arranged via Turo’s broker, Lockton Companies LLP. , described [here](https://help.turo.com/liability-insurance-uk-hosts-r1x_cFhj). IQUW and Lockton are both authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority

You can choose a plan for your vehicle when you create your listing and [change the plan](https://help.turo.com/how-to-update-your-vehicle-protection-plan-rJS2S4eNq) at any time. Changes will only apply to future trips; we can’t apply changes to pending trip requests or to booked or in-progress trips.

Earnings plans described here aren’t available to Hosts whose vehicles are registered outside the UK. Nor are they available to Hosts who offer to begin a trip or deliver a vehicle outside of the UK.

## Summary of UK host earnings plans

There are three vehicle earnings plans for Hosts who share vehicles in the UK: More peace of mind plan, Balanced plan, and More earnings plan. The plans offer varying levels of reimbursement\* if you choose your own repair provider or payment for repairs from Turo for Physical Damage and theft. The level of available payment for repairs or reimbursement varies with the plan you choose.

Hosts must provide Turo with evidence that the damages occurred during a Turo trip and that they qualify for Physical Damage reimbursement.

Turo must receive clear photos of the areas the Host is seeking reimbursement.

* Pre-trip photos must be taken no more than 24 hours before the scheduled trip start time and uploaded no more than 24 hours after trip start.

* Post-trip photos must be taken and uploaded no more than 24 hours after the trip ends. Circumstances that prevent Hosts from taking and submitting photos within 24 hours post-trip (e.g., vehicle impounded, vehicle not in Host's possession) will not serve as a disqualification.

* If damage can’t be fully demonstrated by such photo evidence, Turo may consider other third-party evidence (e.g. a police report, third-party report) that’s necessary to confirm the damage took place during the Reservation Period. A statement by the guest is not third-party evidence so not sufficient on its own.

* Photos without metadata reflecting date, time, geolocation will be deemed invalid.

\*Hosts must comply with the Turo [Terms of service](https://turo.com/us/en/policies/terms) to be eligible for Turo to pay for repairs or reimbursement for costs under an earnings plan

\*\*Payment for the cost of repairs or reimbursement for physical damage to your vehicle is not insurance. We use “damage responsibility” to mean the amount you are responsible for in the event of physical damage to your vehicle during a Turo trip before you’re eligible for reimbursement. Turo is responsible for reimbursement to you for physical damage. That means that if your vehicle is damaged by a Turo guest, you’ll receive the total amount to repair the damage (up to the lesser of the actual cash value of the vehicle or £70,000) directly from us. This is not insurance.

## **Additional requirements**

**Important**: Some vehicles on Turo must comply with additional requirements to receive protection. Failure to adhere to these requirements will result in your earnings plan being voided. **This means that you will not receive any reimbursement payment for claims if you do not comply with the following requirements:**

**Vehicles affected**

**Requirement**

Vehicles using a remote key exchange solution

You must secure any key left inside your vehicle inside a lockbox and, where applicable, change the combination after each trip.

Vehicles valued over £15,000

You must set your advance notice to at least one day. This applies to the advance notice settings at all locations at which the vehicle is available (POI, Home, Custom).

Vehicles valued over £25,000

You must set your advance notice to at least one day. This applies to the advance notice settings at all locations at which the vehicle is available (POI, Home, Custom) AND you must have installed and activated a tracker that complies with the [Active tracker policy | UK hosts](https://help.turo.com/en_us/tracking-and-technology-devices-SkF48Nl49)

**Note:** For all vehicles, regardless of value, you must cooperate with Turo and its trusted vehicle recovery service providers if a vehicle is reported stolen or missing or in the event of a late return (e.g., the vehicle was not returned within 30 minutes of the scheduled end of the trip). You must report the incident to a police station and [file a damage report](https://help.turo.com/reporting-damage-Bk7aIWhHi) with Turo as soon as possible, but in any case, within 24 hours from the time of the theft or disappearance.

## Detailed terms and conditions

So long as a Host is in compliance with the [Terms of Service](https://turo.com/us/en/policies/terms), has not chosen to decline an earnings plan, properly secures the vehicle key as noted above, and, where applicable, has installed and activated the required tracker, the following applies:

## Physical Damage reimbursement for payment of repairs

The Host earnings plans in the UK address how Turo will cover the costs of Physical Damage to your vehicle during the trip - whether by reimbursing you for repairs you arrange or covering the costs of repairs with an approved garage, subject to any damage responsibility in the plan you choose. This is a contractual arrangement between Turo and hosts; this is not insurance. Physical Damage reimbursement from or payment of repairs by Turo applies to your Vehicle in the event of a collision and most comprehensive events during the trip, and is subject to terms and exclusions.

Turo will reimburse Hosts for eligible Physical Damage costs above the damage responsibility – you’ll receive the necessary repair costs to reasonably repair the damage (up to the lesser of the actual cash value of the vehicle or £70,000) directly from Turo. If your vehicle is lost or stolen, or if the Physical Damage costs make repair uneconomical, Turo will pay the actual cash value of your vehicle or £70,000 (whichever is less). Turo is NOT an insurance company and this is a contractual arrangement, not insurance.

●       **Courtesy car.**

○      Under the More peace of mind plan, our claims management vendor will offer a courtesy car to Hosts who have only one Vehicle listed on Turo when that Vehicle will be unavailable for more than three days while repairs are made. To be eligible for a courtesy car, the repairs must be carried out by our claims management company’s repair network. The courtesy car will be subject to the terms and conditions, including insurance, incident, and breakdown coverage, of the claims management vendor. For each claim, a maximum of £350 will apply towards the cost of a courtesy car, and the vendor will detail the vehicle specifications available to the Host. The Host will be responsible for any additional charges incurred and mileage that exceeds the set daily mileage allowance. If no vehicle is available, Turo will provide up to £350 in Turo travel credit per claim. Learn more about [courtesy cars](https://help.turo.com/courtesy-cars-HJm0vykSo).

○      Under the More earnings and Balanced plans plan, the Host is not eligible for a courtesy car.

●      **Loss of hosting income.**

○      Under the More peace of mind plan, Turo is responsible for reimbursing the Loss of hosting income for the damaged Vehicle’s potential earnings, based on the last 60 days average earnings, up to a maximum of £300 reimbursement for repairable Vehicles. If a vehicle is deemed to be a total loss, Turo will reimburse for Loss of hosting income for the lesser of the time to settlement of the total loss or 30 days. If Host has no earnings history, Turo will issue a standard payment of £25 in total.

○      Under the More earnings and Balanced plans, Turo is not responsible for reimbursing any Loss of hosting income.

●     **Diminished value.** If your vehicle is damaged (not totaled/written off) and repaired, you’re not protected for any reduction in the value of your vehicle. If your vehicle is eligible for physical damage reimbursement protection, Turo will pay for the lesser of the cost of repair up to the [actual cash value](https://help.turo.com/vehicle-actual-cash-value-(acv):-calculation-and-limits-ryJFLVxNc) of the vehicle or £70,000. However, there is no reimbursement for any potential reduction in value resulting from damage related to a trip.

●       **Damage responsibility** **costs.**

○      For Vehicles on the More peace of mind plan, there is no responsibility.

○      For Vehicles on the Balanced plan, there is a maximum £250 damage responsibility.

○       For Vehicles on the More earnings plan, there is a maximum £1,750 damage responsibility.

●       **Quality of repairs.** Where you select your own garage for repairs, there is no guarantee, expressed or implied, for the quality of repairs. If a shop you choose repairs the covered damage and the repairs later turn out to be of low quality, there will be no reimbursement by Turo for repeat repairs. If you use a repairer in the Turo-approved network and the repairs turn out to be of low quality, Turo will reimburse you for reasonable costs of any repeat repairs. However, Turo will not reimburse any subsequent repairs you choose to have done by a repairer out of the approved network unless an agreement has been reached to reimburse these costs.

*   **Storage fees.**
    * Turo will only reimburse you for reasonable Storage Fees, up to the prevailing rates in the market, and never more than £1,000 unless Turo causes a delay that results in additional Storage Fees or as otherwise agreed in writing.
    * You must mitigate your costs and make sure Storage Fees or other expenses aren’t accumulating needlessly. The charges must be reasonable. If Turo informs you that it’s reached an impasse with your repair shop, auto body shop, or tow yard regarding how much Turo will reimburse you, you must promptly remove your vehicle before additional Storage Fees accrue. If you fail to do so, Turo will consider these Storage Fees as Unreasonable Charges.
    * You’ll be responsible for paying additional amounts when your repair or auto body shop includes charges on the invoice above what Turo or its third-party administrators have agreed to reimburse under your earnings plan, or it may be deducted from the amount you receive from Turo.
    * Turo will **only** reimburse you for Storage Fees subject to the limitations mentioned above. We won’t reimburse you for Storage Fees that accrue before the vehicle is deemed a total loss or that result from delays for which Turo isn’t responsible (e.g., delays caused by you or your repair or auto body shop).

The allocation of responsibility between Turo and the Host is not impacted or altered in any manner by any amount that Turo can or does collect from the Primary Guest or from a third party on account of the Physical Damage. The Host’s plan is unrelated to the level of responsibility retained by the Primary Guest under whichever Guest earnings plan is chosen by the Primary Guest.

**Damage payment and value-added tax (VAT)**

If your vehicle is damaged, we’ll share with you a [list of Turo-approved garages](https://support-resources.turo.com/protection/Turo%20list%20of%20repairers%20(14_02).pdf). If you have your vehicle repaired at one of these garages, we’ll apply your host damage responsibility and issue payment, gross of VAT, directly to the garage. If you take the vehicle to a non-network garage or prefer to receive cash in lieu of repairs, we’ll pay you the net price, excluding VAT, minus your plan’s damage responsibility.

**Note:** The list of approved garages is not exhaustive and is subject to change.

## General Definitions

●       **Actual Cash Value:** the actual value of your vehicle calculated at the time of filing a damage claim. This amount is used to determine the maximum reimbursement amount. The following is how the ACV is determined:

* Based on the year, make, model, mileage and condition of your car prior to the loss
* Compared with other similar vehicles in as near the local market as possible
* Using data sources such as industry leading valuation tools
* For some unique vehicles, other methods may be used if valuations are not available

●     **Comprehensive:** other property damage to the car that isn’t a collision – theft, fire (excluding fires resulting from Mechanical Failure), animal impacts, vandalism, falling objects and acts of nature (windstorm, flood, etc.). In the case of “acts of nature” or fire comprehensive damage (e.g., flood, earthquake, hail, windstorm, etc.), the Host will receive reimbursement identical to whatever pre-existing comprehensive coverage the Host has in effect on their own personal policy for the car immediately prior to the start of the Reservation Period.

**●       Courtesy car:** the vehicle offered by the claims management vendor to Hosts who meet eligibility requirements.

●      **Damage responsibility** **costs:** the amount you are responsible for in the event of Physical Damage to your car during a Turo trip before you’re eligible for reimbursement.

●      **Delivery Period:** the time when the Host or designee, who is a Turo-approved driver, is actively delivering the vehicle to the primary guest who has reserved delivery and ends when the vehicle has been delivered to the primary guest. The period doesn’t include the time when the Host or designee is retrieving the vehicle at the end of the trip. There is no third-party liability insurance or protection for physical damage to the Host’s vehicle during the Delivery Period; the Host’s personal insurance policy is in effect during the Delivery Period.

●      **Deterioration:** any fading, discoloration, rust, or wear caused to the interior or exterior of the Vehicle over time. Also includes any deterioration from road use of tyres, and mechanical deterioration of belts, suspension, and electrical and mechanical components, along with any resulting damage from these events.

●      **Exterior Wear and Tear:** any dings, dents, cracks, or scratches to the exterior body of the Vehicle that is 3 inches in diameter or less. This includes but is not limited to, rims, wheels, hubcaps, any painted or textured area for the body of the Vehicle, and moldings. Separate incidents that may cumulatively add up to more than 3” are still considered Wear and Tear.

●      **Guest:** the primary name listed in the reservation. We also use it to refer to any Turo-approved additional drivers listed on the reservation.

●      **Host:** The person(s) or entity that lists a Vehicle on Turo, including but not limited to the Vehicle owner(s) and persons or entities authorised by the Vehicle’s owner(s) to list the Vehicle on Turo.

●      **Interior Wear and Tear:** minor scuffing of interior surfaces that is 3 inches or less in diameter, along with any dials, switches, or knobs, that break or fail over time. Cuts and punctures that are clearly due to abuse or misuse by the Guest are not included in this definition.

●      **Loss of Hosting Income:** payment for the possible earnings that a Host might have lost due to reimbursable damage to your Vehicle.

●       **Mechanical Failure:** confined wear and tear or breakdown of mechanical components, which includes the vehicle’s electrical system, suspension, engine, or transmission. This includes any damage resulting from wear and tear, manufacturer defect, lack of maintenance or upkeep. Damages caused by guest negligence, deliberate acts or intentional misuse are excluded from mechanical failure. Clutch damage is handled separately. Read our [clutch policy.](https://help.turo.com/clutch-repair-reimbursement-SJfvUNlEc) [](https://help.turo.com/clutch-repair-reimbursement-SJfvUNlEc)

●      **Necessary Repair Costs:** the reasonable and necessary costs for the parts and the labor required to repair the eligible Physical Damage to the reserved vehicle, that occurred after the Delivery Period and during the Reservation Period.

 Reasonable labor costs are the standard labor times, from market accepted estimating tools. Labor rates are based upon,prevailing labor rates.  Prevailing labor rates may be determined by the estimating provider for estimates written in the local market.

If Turo has communicated a preferred vendor for services such as glass repair/replacement, key replacement or other repair processes, the necessary repair cost is the pricing from the preferred provider. While you are allowed to use your own vendor, the most your earnings plan will reimburse for Necessary repair Costs is the amount that the Turo approved vendor would perform them for, with no additional markup. If the repair facility you chose charges higher than the prevailing labor rates, the difference in cost is the host responsibility. The following are **Excluded Costs:**

* Aftermarket accessories that don’t replace original parts. Read complete information on [use and reimbursement of aftermarket parts](https://help.turo.com/use-and-coverage-of-aftermarket-parts-BkKPU4eV9).
* If the Reimbursable Cause is an act of nature (e.g., flood, earthquake, hail, windstorm, etc.), any cost that the Host’s private passenger auto insurer wouldn’t have been required to pay under the primary insurance policy covering the Vehicle in effect immediately prior to the start of the Reservation Period.
* Profit and overhead on parts and repair costs performed at a repair facility owner by the host.
* Storage fees from a shop or repair facility that is owned by the host.

●      **Physical Damage:** actual tangible damage to the Vehicle that occurs after delivery during the Reservation Period as a result of a Collision or a Reimbursable Cause.

The Host bears the responsibility to demonstrate that damage meets the definition of Physical Damage and occurred during the Reservation Period.

○      **Collision** means when the Vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object.

○      Reimbursable Cause means theft, fire (excluding fires resulting from Mechanical Failure), animal impacts, vandalism, falling objects, and acts of nature (e.g., flood, earthquake, hail, windstorm, etc.).

○      **Excluded Damage**:

■      Damage existing as of the start of the Reservation Period;

■      Interior Wear and Tear;

■      Exterior Wear and Tear;

■      Physical Damage existing prior to, or occurring during, the Delivery Period;

■      Deterioration;

■      Mechanical Failures

■      Physical Damage that occurs during or after any period in which the Host is in violation of the Terms of Service;

■      Damage to any personal items left in the Vehicle;

■      Damage to, or resulting from, tyres that are defective, have excessive wear & tear or dry rot, have tread depth less than 4/32 inch, were not properly inflated prior to the reservation, or are 6 or more years old.

■      Scrapes, scratches, and dings, regardless of size, to the underside of bumpers, air deflectors, and underbody panels.

■      Dings, dents, scratches, and creases less than 3 inches to the inside of truck beds from loading or carrying items.

●      **Reservation Period:** begins at the trip start time listed in the reservation and when the Vehicle is in the custody or control of the Guest and ends the earlier of the trip end time or when the Vehicle is returned to either the Host or the location designated in the reservation. This is the period shown for a booked trip. To learn more about what qualifies and what to do in the event of a late return, please visit [here](https://help.turo.com/reporting-a-late-return-H15iBExV5).

●      **Unreasonable Charges:** needless accumulated expenses incurred due to not promptly removing your vehicle before additional storage fees accrued.

**●       Vehicle:** the vehicle booked during the applicable Reservation.

## Payment/Reimbursement Requirements and Process

●      **Proof of Physical Damage:**

For Hosts to qualify for Physical Damage reimbursement, Turo must have the following documentation:

■      (1) clear photo documentation from the Host of the areas the Host is seeking reimbursement for taken within 24 hours of the start _and_ end of the trip that demonstrates that the damage occurred during the trip; **or**

■      (2) other third-party evidence (e.g. a police report, third party report) that demonstrates the damage took place during the trip; **or**

■      (3) if _both_ the following two conditions are true: (a) the Host or the Host’s designee was not physically present at the start of the trip; and (b) the Guest did not take front, back, side, and other applicable photos of the Vehicle at the time of vehicle pick-up, then, if 3(a) - 3(b) are both true, clear photo documentation of the area the Host is seeking coverage for taken within 24 hours of the end of the trip by the Host, along with the Host’s credible representation that the damage took place during the trip, may be sufficient documentation to qualify for Physical Damage protection.

●      **Proof of Necessary Repairs**

o   For Hosts to qualify for reimbursement for the Necessary Repairs for eligible Physical Damage during the Reservation Period and for the Guest to be held responsible for the damage, Turo must have the following documentation:

▪       (1) clear, dated, photo documentation from the Host of the out-of-pocket expenses paid for the Vehicle’s repair; **and**

▪       (2) other evidence (e.g. a diagnostic report, vehicle alignment sheet) that demonstrates the damage was repaired and paid for.

The allocation of responsibility between Turo and the Host is not impacted or altered in any manner by any amount that Turo can or does collect from the Primary Guest or from a third party on account of the Physical Damage. The Host’s plan is unrelated to the level of responsibility retained by the Primary Guest under whichever Guest protection plan is chosen by the Primary Guest.

Payments and reimbursements are made via ACH by either Hyperwallet or PayPal. If a trace number or bank research is requested, a fee of up to £50 will be charged to the Host.
