Guests sometimes encounter issues when requesting a trip extension. This article identifies common reasons for decline and details the steps required to resolve them.

## Why can’t I extend my trip? 

Trip extension requests can be declined for several reasons. While many issues can be resolved, some extensions may not be possible.

### Outstanding balances

*   **Outstanding balance:** A guest has an outstanding balance.
    
*   **Payment resolution:** The guest must pay the balance due in full. To view and pay the balance, use the relevant link for the [US](https://turo.com/us/en/unpaid-invoices), [Australia](https://turo.com/au/en/unpaid-invoices), [Canada](https://turo.com/ca/en/unpaid-invoices), [France](https://turo.com/fr/fr/unpaid-invoices), or the [UK](https://turo.com/gb/en/unpaid-invoices). Allow time for it process, then submit the extension request again.
    

### Insufficient funds

*   **Insufficient funds:** A guest’s payment card has insufficient funds available.
    
*   **Bank resolution:** Check with the bank. There may be pending charges or holds that are not reflected, or the card limit may have been reached.
    

### Vehicle availability

*   **Vehicle unavailable:** The vehicle is unavailable because another guest is scheduled for a trip, the host has a trip buffer or calendar block in place, or there’s a vehicle restriction in place. 
    
*   **Compliance resolution:** The guest must return the vehicle at the scheduled trip end time.
    

### Policy violations

*   **Policy violation:** A guest issued a bank dispute of a charge from Turo, aka, filed a chargeback, in violation of Turo policy. 
    
*   **Provider resolution:** Contact the payment provider to cancel the chargeback.
