## What is Turo?

Turo is rental reinvented. It's where you can rent the exact car you want, exactly where you need it, for days, weeks, or months. Our vehicle selection offers cars for all budgets, occasions, and lovers of unique makes and models. Turo hosts are in thousands of cities in multiple countries. They’re real people who’ll make sure you get the car you booked — some will even deliver it to a location convenient to you. Turo offers easy in-app booking for a personalized and memorable car rental experience.

You can choose a car on Turo for vacation or business travel or to be your daily driver for an extended period of time. People also come to Turo to find cars for special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, and birthday celebrations.

## How is Turo different from other rental car services?

Turo let’s you choose from thousands of cars, book in advance via our app, and pick up and return the car nearby or have it delivered to a convenient spot — airport, hotel, train station or maybe even your home. When you’re ready to start your trip, there’s no waiting in line to get the keys. Plus, you’ll get the car you booked, and you don’t need your own car insurance. All trips come with liability insurance, and we offer protection plans for vehicle damage.

## Who are Turo hosts?

Turo hosts are everyday people just like you. Some are individuals sharing their personal vehicles. Others are small business owners sharing an entire portfolio. And as Turo hosts, they all must meet our vehicle insurance, safety, and legal requirements and our standards for host performance and behavior.

## What quality can I expect from a host?

You can learn about the quality of a host by reading their vehicle listing. Some hosts have an “All-Star” badge on their listings. All-Star Hosts get top marks in performance, quality, and ratings, so you may want to book your first trip with an All-Star Host.

Turo has lots of other great hosts who are on their way to becoming All-Stars. So check the vehicle listing for a host’s star rating. Read their guest reviews. And if you still have questions, you can [message your host](https://help.turo.com/messaging-your-host-SkVEVxN9) after you’ve booked your trip. If you feel they’re not a good match for you, you can [cancel the trip.](https://help.turo.com/canceling-a-trip-with-your-host-HJyUE4xN9) We’ll help you rebook with someone else or issue you a full refund when you cancel within the [free cancellation period](https://turo.com/us/en/policies/cancellation).

## What kinds of vehicles can I rent on Turo?

You can rent cars, SUVs, minivans, cargo vans, and trucks on Turo. You can also rent box trucks In the US and in British Columbia. Turo doesn’t offer limousines, motorcycles, RVs, tow trucks, three-wheeled vehicles, vehicles that require a commercial license, or off-road vehicles

## Will I get the exact car I booked?

The car waiting for you will be the one you booked, unless you and your host have arranged for a change. Unlike rental car companies, Turo hosts don’t make surprise substitutions.

## Do I need my own insurance?

No, you don’t need personal insurance to book a trip on Turo. All trips come with liability insurance included. Plus, Turo offers protection plans for vehicle loss or damage. These plans limit how much you’d pay if there’s on-trip covered physical damage to your host’s vehicle.

## What’s the longest trip I can book?

How long your trip can be depends on a couple of factors. For example, laws in France, Quebec, and the UK set limits on trip length that Turo must follow. Trip length also depends on whether a host’s car is available for the length of time you want to book.

The good news is, many Turo hosts make their cars available for trips of 30 days or longer, and Turo allows guests to pay as they go. Plus, if you book a trip and want to keep the car longer, you can request a trip extension and, if all conditions are met, add more days to your originally booked trip.

## Do I have to download the app?

You can book a car on our turo.com website, but you’ll need the app to complete check-in and checkout for your trip. The app is also the easiest way to keep track of messages from your host or from Turo and to make any changes to your trip while you’re traveling. Use these links to download the app for [iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/turo-car-rental-marketplace/id555063314) or [Android.](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.relayrides.android.relayrides)

## How will I access the car?

If you're meeting your host in person, they'll hand you a key. Otherwise, you’ll use a key your host leaves in a lockbox or other secure spot to access the car.  You host will share the specifics.

## What does a typical Turo trip look like?

A typical Turo trips starts with our in-app check-in process. You’ll confirm your identity, pick up the car, take car photos, then head out on the road. Keep the car fueled or charged as needed. Pay for any tolls as you go or plan to reimburse your host. Before the trip ends, we’ll ask if you want to keep the car longer and remind you to refuel or recharge before returning, taking photos, and completing checkout.

## Can I make changes to a trip?

Yes. Once you’ve booked, you can make changes to your trip up until start time. Open the **Trips** tab and choose the trip you want to modify. Tap/click “Change trip” to [change trip dates](https://help.turo.com/extending-or-shortening-your-trip-BypBE4eVc) or [location](https://help.turo.com/changing-delivery-location-ryKBEVl49), [update protection](https://help.turo.com/updating-your-protection-plan-SyNLEEe4c), [add Extras](https://help.turo.com/adding-extras-to-your-trip-r1Fb44eVc), or [cancel the trip](https://help.turo.com/canceling-a-trip-with-your-host-HJyUE4xN9). Some requests require host approval. All requests must be submitted via Turo’s “Change trip” feature to be valid.

## Can I book more than one trip at a time?

Since you can’t be in more than one car at the same time, Turo’s system will prevent you from  booking trips with overlapping dates/times. However if, on the day you book a trip, you want to book another trip for a different set of dates, you can do that.

## Can someone else drive on my trip?

You can, at no charge, [add someone as a driver](https://help.turo.com/adding-a-driver-to-a-trip-HksENgV5) on your trip. Confirm they meet [Turo’s age and license requirements](https://help.turo.com/en_us/booking-a-car-H1gxVVeE9) to drive the vehicle you booked in the country where your trip takes place. Then submit your request at least 24 hours before your trip starts. Your driver must have or must [create an account](https://turo.com/sign-up) and get approved to drive on Turo.

## Can I book a trip for someone else?

You’re not able to book a trip for someone else. When you book a trip, you’re the only one approved to drive the host’s car, and you assume full financial responsibility for it. If you want someone to help you drive on a trip you’ve booked, you can [add them to your trip.](https://help.turo.com/adding-a-driver-to-a-trip-HksENgV5)
