Offering optional add-ons to a vehicle listing allows hosts to increase earnings while enhancing the guest experience. This article covers the types of Extras available, safety requirements, pricing rules, and reimbursement policies.

## About Extras

Extras are optional add-ons hosts can make available for guests to purchase for their trip. There are two categories of Extras:

* **Conveniences:** Services such as prepaid electric vehicle charging, unlimited mileage, a pet fee, or other benefits.
* **Gear:** Physical items such as child safety seats, picnic baskets, bicycles, kayaks, camping gear, and coolers, for example.

## Key information for offering Extras

* **Auto opt-in:** Turo automatically opts all new listings into offering a prepaid refuel Extra, which is a guest favorite.
* **Price adjustments:** Hosts can remove or change the price assigned to any Extra at any time from their vehicle listing.
* **Eligible items:** Turo provides a list of more than 50 eligible conveniences and gear items. If an Extra is not on this list, hosts cannot add it.
* **Host earnings - US** **and Canada****:** For new trips booked as of Oct. 8, 2026, US and Canada hosts keep a percentage of the cost of any Extras purchased in alignment with the earnings plan they choose. or, where applicable, the variable host share applied to the trip.
* **Host earnings - France:**  For new trips booked as of Oct. 19 2026, France hosts keep a percentage of the cost of any Extras purchased in alignment with the earnings plan they choose. or, where applicable, the variable host share applied to the trip.
* **Host earnings -** **Australia and the UK:** Hosts in Australia and the UK earn 90% of the cost of Extras.
* **Guest modifications:** Guests can add or remove an Extra at any time before their trip starts without submitting a trip change request for host approval.

## Safety of Extras

Extras must be in safe, working order, perform as described, and comply with all platform restrictions.

**Note about child safety seats:** If hosts choose to offer a child safety seat, they must inform guests that guests are responsible for installation and proper use. Hosts are responsible for replacing any child safety seat that is damaged, recalled, or expired.

## Restrictions for Extras

Turo may remove a listing or remove a host from the platform if they violate platform conditions. Hosts **cannot** do the following:

* **Inappropriate items:** List Extras that are lewd or inappropriate.
* **Fees and deposits:** Use the Extras feature to collect a deposit or convenience fee.
* **Non-reimbursable conveniences:** Request post-trip reimbursement from guests who purchase an Extra for prepaid refuel, prepaid electric vehicle charging, or unlimited mileage.
* **Policy compliance:** Violate Turo’s [Terms of service](https://turo.com/policies/terms), [Prohibited uses policy](https://help.turo.com/prohibited-uses-Hyi0E4l49), or [Community Guidelines](https://turo.com/policies/community-guidelines).
* **Prohibited goods:** List weapons, illegal items, food, alcohol, or drugs.
* **Property rentals:** Offer the use of rentable properties such as houses, condos, or apartments.
* **Require purchases:** Require guests to purchase an Extra to book a car.
* **Towing services:** Offer tow functionality or services.

**Tip:** To avoid submitting ineligible reimbursement requests, hosts can check the **Details** page of a trip to see if a guest purchased an Extra that does not qualify for reimbursement.

## Lost or damaged Extras

Turo cannot assist with lost or damaged Extras, so hosts should set clear expectations about how guests should use and care for items. Hosts can request guest reimbursement for lost or damaged Extras outside of Turo in compliance with the Terms of service.
