This article explains the process for guests to pay for tolls received during a trip. It outlines the necessary steps to ensure toll invoices are settled within the required timeframe.

## Instructions for paying tolls

_(Summarizes invoice payment steps for guests.)_

If a host sends an invoice for a toll, guests are notified via the trip’s details page, email, and their Turo activity feed.

1. Open the **Trips** tab in the Turo app

    1. **If the trip has ended:** Scroll down to select **View past trips** then select the trip.

    2. **If the trip is in progress:** Select **Manage trip** then **View trip details**.

2. Select the invoice to open it.

3. Select **Accept and pay.**

## Toll notification and payment schedule

_(Explains toll notifications, payment deadlines, and host reimbursement timelines.)_

If your host has equipped the vehicle with a toll transponder, keep it in place during the trip so the host will be notified of toll charges. Guests are still responsible for toll costs incurred even when a transponder is in place. Removing the transponder or using a personal transponder is prohibited. If there’s no transponder in the vehicle, guests must notify the host when a toll is incurred.

Tolling agencies use varying billing cycles, which can cause delays in host notification, which may delay the host in sending you an invoice for the toll costs.

**Toll invoice windows:**

* **Payment for invoices received within 90 days:** Turo notifies guests via email and activity feed. Guests has 48 hours to pay or dispute the invoice.

* **Payment for invoices received after 90 days:** Turo emails guests regarding the toll charges. Guests must reply to the email to ask questions or dispute the charges.

**Reimbursement request timeframes:**

* **Standard request:** Hosts can submit toll costs within 180 days after a trip ends since they may not receive notice of a ticket for several months due to a ticketing agency’s billing cycle. Processing by Turo may take up to 5 days. Therefore, a guest may receive a reimbursement request up to 185 days after a trip ends.

## Eligible tolls, fees, and costs

_(Details types of tolls and fees eligible for reimbursement.)_

* **Administrative fees:** Fees apply for speeding tickets at toll collection sites and tolls incurred outside the area where the host’s transponder is active.

* **Airport fee:** An airport fee will be applied if the trip begins or ends at an airport with a permit that charges for incidental costs.

* **Congestion pricing:** [NYC congestion pricing costs](https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-03612) are eligible.

* **Missing equipment:** Charges apply if a guest removed or lost the host’s transponder, and it must be replaced.

* **Processing fees:** Processing fees of 3% if resolution of a toll invoice requires intervention from Turo customer support

* **Travel fees:** [Travel fees for driving in the UK](https://help.turo.com/paying-travel-fees-uk-guests-B1GNMmgZA) are considered toll fees and are eligible.
