This article provides instructions for hosts reporting guest violations of Turo’s requirements for a proper vehicle return. Following these instructions and eligibility guidelines ensures reports are properly supported and processed. This article does not cover late returns, damage claims, or invoicing for missing refueling or EV recharging.

## Instructions for reporting an improper return

To report an improper return, contact customer support and provide:

*   **ID:** The trip ID.  
    
*   **Violation description:** A clear account of how the guest failed to properly return the vehicle as per Turo’s requirements. 
    
*   **Evidence:** Photo evidence that clearly shows the incorrect parking, missing key, or open lockbox. All photos must contain metadata showing date, time, and geolocation. In France, photos must be time-stamped.
    

## Reportable return issues

Hosts may report guests for an improper return if they fail to perform all of these required actions:

*   **Airports with delivery permits:** Returning the vehicle to an approved location shown on the trip **Details** page at airports where Turo holds a permit. Hosts may not require in-person returns or restrict guests to specific parking lots and spaces.
    
*   **Key return:** Closing a key bag and placing it in the location you specified.
    
*   **Lockbox security:** Closing and securing a lockbox.
    
*   **Return location:** Following your return location instructions, unless they contradict Turo policy, and not abandoning the vehicle.
    
*   **Timely response:** Responding to return requests within 2 hours of the trip’s end.
    

**Important:** Turo may charge hosts who falsely report or insufficiently support an improper return a $50\* violation fee or impose other account penalties.
