## Vehicle eligibility - Summary

Eligible hosts must:

*   be at least 18 years old
    
*   an active and in force private or commercial insurance policy on the listed vehicle at all times that shows as insured on the Motor Insurance Database(MID)
    
*   have registered the vehicle in the UK in their name or in the name of an incorporated UK business
    

Eligible vehicles must:

*   be 12 years old or less 
    
*   have a fair market value no greater than £70,000
    
*   have fewer than 130,000 miles on the odometer at listing
    
*   have a permanent license plate 
    
*   have a valid MOT certificate and valid road tax
    
*   have no modifications, unless adapted for disabilities 
    
*   have no more than nine seats
    

## Vehicle eligibility - Detailed

#### Vehicles ineligible for listing  

Ineligible vehicles include, but aren’t limited to, motorcycles, limousines,  high-performance models, kit cars, left-hand drive, specialty vehicles, classic cars, commercial vehicles, tow trucks and vehicles used in any competition, trial, performance test, race or trial of speed, including off-road events. Vans are ineligible for listing _**if**_ they’re classified as a [Box van](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/vans/used-vans/box-van), [Dropside van](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/vans/used-vans/dropside?refresh=true), [Luton van](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/vans/used-vans/luton), or [Tipper van](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/vans/used-vans/tipper). 

Ineligible vehicles also include those that are subject to outstanding finance or are a Category [write off](https://help.turo.com/en_us/ineligible-vehicle-titles-B1DvLEe49). Category ‘Cat’ cars are vehicles that have been damaged sufficiently for an insurance company to deem them beyond economic repair. All seven categories - A, B, C, D, N, S, and X - are ineligible for listing on Turo. You must conduct a Hire Purchase Information (HPI) check made on the vehicle to verify it is not a Cat car.

#### Vehicles conditionally eligible for listing

Vans are eligible for listing _**if**_ they’re under 3.5 tonnes _**and**_ are classified as either a [Combi van](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/vans/used-vans/combi-van) or [Panel van](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/vans/used-vans/panel-van). 

#### Vehicle access 

Your vehicle may not be equipped with a device that allows anyone other than host, guest, or Turo (including Turo's trusted partners) to unlock during Turo trip or to obtain vehicle data relating to Turo trip (e.g., vehicle location, odometer readings, speedometer readings, etc.). Turo exempts from this rule any UK host or owner whose vehicle comes equipped by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) with the kind of device mentioned here or who’s required by their insurer to install such a device. 

#### Vehicle age

Your vehicle must be 12 year old or less at the time of listing. Once listed, vehicles that exceed 12 years of age may remain listed if they continue to meet our [maintenance and safety standards](https://help.turo.com/maintenance-requirements-ryNmIVxNc).

#### Vehicle branding

Your vehicle must not have branding on the inside or outside other than automaker’s branding or Turo-approved branding. It may not be parked in a space for guest pickups or returns that has any branding other than Turo-approved branding.

#### Vehicle insurance

You must meet our [universal insurance requirements for all Turo host](https://help.turo.com/en_us/personal-insurance-requirements-or-hosts-S1TvINxVq) as well as the following:

*   Owner to warrant they have, and will continue to have, existing private insurance policy or commercial insurance policy on the listed vehicle 
    
*   Submit copy of certificate of insurance to confirm coverage if requested by Turo
    
*   Make insurer aware of vehicle’s intended use on Turo; if leased and leasing company provides the insurance, make them aware of vehicle’s intended use on Turo
    

#### Vehicle mileage

Your vehicle must have fewer than 130,000 miles on the odometer at listing. The odometer must be in working condition. Vehicles with tampered odometers won’t qualify for listing. Once listed, vehicles that reach or exceed 130,000 miles may remain listed if they’re in excellent condition and continue to meet all legal, safety and mechanical standards. 

#### Vehicle modifications

Your vehicle can’t have undergone any modifications, except for adaptions for disabilities.

#### Vehicle safety 

You must have valid MoT Certificate and annual vehicle servicing where required. 

#### Vehicle tracking device requirements

To provide you with peace of mind on the road, we require high-value vehicles to have certain trackers installed. #### Vehicle value

Your vehicle must have a fair market value no greater than £70,000. Turo provides protection for a vehicle’s actual cash value (ACV) up to £70,000. We use third-party vendors to determine vehicle value at the time of listing.
