## Asking questions before you book a trip

Use Turo messaging to ask questions about a host’s vehicle or to discuss trip issues.

**You’re not able to contact a host before you book your trip.**

If your decision to book depends on a host’s answer to your question, check their vehicle listing. If the information you need isn’t there, book the trip and message the host. You can [cancel the trip](https://help.turo.com/canceling-a-trip-with-your-host-HJyUE4xN9) if the answer isn’t what you hoped for. We’ll issue you a full refund when you cancel within the [free cancellation period](https://turo.com/us/en/policies/cancellation).

## Messaging your host

You must first book your trip before you can message your host. Once you do, follow the instructions below to get in touch. Use Turo messaging for all communication between you and your host so our support agents have a written record to refer to if you need their help.

To message your host:

1. Open the **Trips** tab in the Turo app to access the list of your upcoming trips

2. Tap the **“Message host ”** button

3. If no **“Message host ”** button is displayed, open the trip to land on the trip **Details** page

4. Tap **“Messages”** at the top of the screen to write and send a message to your host

## Sending photos in Turo messaging

**To ensure your privacy, don’t submit identity photos in Turo messaging. Only submit them via the check-in process.**

If you need to, you can send your host photos in messaging. Tap/click the + and choose photos  from existing Trip photos, your phone’s gallery, or take new photos to upload. Both you and your host can view the image thumbnail(s) in the message thread. To remove a photo, select it in the thread, tap/click the trash icon, and **“Confirm”** to delete it.

## Frequently asked questions

#### I messaged my host, but they haven’t responded. Now what?

If you’ve messaged your host, give them ample time to reply, especially if your trip is booked well in advance. They may be handling messages from guests whose trips are in progress or starting soon.

If you don’t get a response, call and text them; their phone number is listed on the **Details** page of the trip.

If they still don’t respond, and you’re nearing the end of your trip’s free cancellation period, cancel the trip. To cancel and get help rebooking with another host, contact support.

If you can’t wait for a support agent to cancel your trip, you can cancel it yourself. Open the **Trips** tab, find and open your trip, tap/click  **“Change trip.”** Choose the cancellation reason **“My host is not responding,”** and a support agent will contact you within 48 hours.

#### My host agreed to a change on my trip, but I don’t see it in Turo. Why not?

You and your host can use messaging to discuss trip changes, but you must [submit a trip change](https://help.turo.com/extending-or-shortening-your-trip-BypBE4eVc) request via Turo for the host to approve. Trip change agreements made in messaging aren’t valid since Turo won’t have a record of the change.
