If your vehicle sustains damage during a trip, you must follow mandatory steps to remain eligible for reimbursement under your earnings plan. This guide details the 24-hour reporting deadline, the photo requirements, and the process for choosing whether you resolve the damage directly with your guest or file a claim.

## Reporting damage

Hosts must [report damage](https://turo.com/resolutions) no more than 24 hours after the trip ends to start the resolution process. Damage reports received after this deadline may not be eligible for reimbursement under your selected earnings plan and may make it difficult to resolve damage with your guest. Damage caused by a guest using the wrong fuel in the vehicle should also be reported here within the 24-hour post-trip timeframe.

If your guest reports damage to your vehicle, we’ll notify you.

In order to provide quality service to both our hosts and guests, you must cooperate with Turo in a timely manner by providing requested information. Failure to do so could result in your claim being closed or denied.

To be eligible for coverage under your plan, you must submit all relevant documentation to Turo within 15 days of reporting the claim to Turo. [Read more about conditions and document submission deadlines](https://help.turo.com/resolving-damage-by-filing-a-claim-france-hosts-ryg1XwW6h).

## Providing photos

When hosts report damage, you must provide pre-trip and post-trip photos of the damaged area(s), and the photos must have metadata showing the date, time, and geolocation. You have 24 hours before trip start to take pre-trip photos, and up to 24 hours after trip start to upload them. You have up to 24 hours after trip end to take and upload post-trip photos.

If you don’t have the proper photos, you may not be eligible for physical damage reimbursement. We waive the post-trip photo requirement in cases of mechanical damage or if your car was towed or otherwise unavailable for you to photograph.

## Choosing a resolution path

When you report damage, Turo will ask you to enter a quote from your body shop or your best-guess estimate of the cost to repair the damage. Based on that estimate, your earnings plan damage responsibility, and your guest’s out-of-pocket maximum, we’ll show you two amounts. We’ll display the amount you could receive by resolving the damage directly with your guest **_and_** the amount you could receive if you file a claim with Turo. Then we’ll ask you to choose whether to 1) [resolve the damage directly with your guest](https://help.turo.com/resolving-damage-with-your-guest-rJjYLNe4q) **_or_** 2) file a claim with Turo.
