## Roadside assistance in Australia

Roadside assistance is available 24/7 for accidents, breakdowns, and other issues whilst your vehicle is on a trip. You or your guest can contact our roadside partner at **+61 2 8317 1415****.**

The following can help ensure your guest’s safety and, in some cases, help you save money:

* **Keep a copy of the Turo** [**incident information card**](https://help.turo.com/incident-information-card-SJJELVe4c) **in your vehicle** so guests have instructions for contacting roadside assistance and proof of financial responsibility
* **Keep Turo’s roadside assistance number – +61 2 8317 1415 – handy** so you can share it with guests who contact you to report a breakdown, an accident that leaves the vehicle undriveable, or an issue that requires roadside help. If your guest gets into an accident and the vehicle is still driveable, have them [report the damage](https://turo.com/resolutions) within 24 hours
* **Keep a full-size replacement tyre in your vehicle** and tell guests where to find it
* **Include important vehicle operating instructions in your vehicle listing** so guests know what fuel to use, where to find he EV charging plug, how automatic features work, and more

## Cost

Turo will cover the cost to dispatch help to your vehicle’s location. You’ll be responsible for paying a roadside assistance fee and also possibly a violation fee if the service was needed because the vehicle was mechanically unsound or improperly maintained. Your guest may be responsible if service was needed because of carelessness, abuse, or a violation of Turo policy.

#### Flat tyres

If your guest gets a flat tyre on their trip, they may replace or repair the tyre with your permission. You may be responsible for the cost to repair or replace the tyre if we find the flat was due to neglect or poor maintenance. Read more about [flat tyre charges.](https://help.turo.com/flat-tire-damage-or-hosts-ByZ78NlNq)

#### On-the-spot assistance

If your guest is unable to drive the vehicle, roadside assistance will, when possible, carry out on-the-spot light-duty repairs to make the vehicle operational.

If the issue is resolved and later determined to be due to poor maintenance or wear and tear, you may be charged up to $60 for the roadside service. This includes, but isn’t limited to, services such as jumpstarts, battery replacements, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, and tyre changes.

For trips more than 30 days long, you and your guests must agree in Turo messaging on how to handle routine maintenance needed during the trip. Learn more about [managing vehicle maintenance for monthly trips](https://help.turo.com/vehicle-maintenance-for-long-duration-trips-hosts-H1Sary3ggl).

## Towing Eligibility

When arranging roadside assistance, our roadside partner will contact you to ask for a location to tow the vehicle. If they’re unable to reach you, the vehicle will be towed to the nearest secure facility.

**Roadside assistance will tow your vehicle if:**

* There are any acceptable mid-trip issues such as breakdowns, no spare tyre available, damage, or the vehicle is abandoned
* Mid-trip or post-trip recovery is needed if your vehicle has been impounded or requires a secondary tow (e.g. from a holding yard to a final location), roadside assistance may help recover it. However, if a secondary tow is needed because we were unable to reach you after multiple attempts, additional charges may apply.

**Roadside assistance won’t tow your vehicle if:**

* The issue occurs before or outside of a trip, such as the vehicle being unable to reach the trip delivery location, not meeting the conditions required to start the trip, or already being at your home or primary location and you’re requesting it be towed elsewhere for convenience.
* The trip was cancelled or did not go ahead due to a no-show by either the host or the guest.
* You gave the guest instructions that violate Turo’s prohibited uses policy.
* You self-recovered the vehicle after a mid-trip issue but are now requesting that Turo tow it to a different location.
* The vehicle is inside an impound lot

## Roadside services costs

* **Maintenance issues / Wear and tear:** If a tow is required due to a maintenance issue or wear and tear, you’ll be charged a **$250 roadside assistance fee** **and also possibly a $100 violation fee**, and you may forfeit trip earnings for unused days or the full duration of the affected trip
* **Gone on arrival:** If you or a designee collect the vehicle and it’s not present when roadside assistance arrives, you’ll be charged a **$40 gone-on-arrival fee**
* **Misrepresentation:** If you request roadside assistance while the vehicle is off trip, or if the reason for the tow is found to be misrepresented, **you’ll be charged up to $250**
* **Accidents:** You won’t be responsible for towing costs resulting from an accident, unless we find a violation of Turo policy, in which case you’ll be liable for the full cost of roadside services and any associated penalties

**You’re not responsible for towing costs** if the tow is needed because of an accident, unless we find you violated Turo policy. In that case, you’d be responsible for the full cost of the roadside services and any [additional charges](https://help.turo.com/host-fees-r1aIIExV5) tied to the policy violation.

**Note:** Roadside assistance isn't available if you or your guest violate Turo’s [Terms of Service](https://turo.com/policies/terms), allow an [unauthorised driver](https://help.turo.com/adding-a-driver-to-a-trip-HksENgV5) to use the vehicle, or intentionally cause damage or misuse the vehicle. It’s not available for civil commotions or civil unrest. Nor is it available for damage resulting from acts of war, nuclear energy, or attacks. Roadside assistance isn't available for earthquakes or weather-related incidents (flood, storms, etc). It doesn’t extend to the cost of fuel, insurance, or road charges/tolls.
