Roadside assistance provides support for mechanical issues and accidents during a Turo trip in Canada. This article covers how to request help, service costs, and coverage restrictions to ensure a safe and smooth experience.

#### **Important:** Turo cannot assist guests with roadside requests if they are in a restricted tow zone. **Guests in the Greater Toronto Area** must call 511. **Guests in the Greater Montreal Area** must call 911.

## Roadside assistance after a breakdown or other mechanical issue

If the vehicle you’re driving breaks down or won’t start, immediately contact your host. Then call **+1 (888) 391-0460** to request roadside assistance. Report your location and the known or suspected problem.

Roadside assistance will attempt to fix the vehicle so it’s operational. If they’re unable to do so, they’ll tow the vehicle and any luggage or cargo to your host’s preferred location or the nearest secure facility. Contact customer support at **+1 (888) 391-0460** for help booking another vehicle.

## Roadside assistance after an accident

If the vehicle cannot be driven after an accident, guests should contact their host and call Turo to request roadside assistance at +1 (888) 391-0460. If the vehicle needs to be towed and you can’t wait for the repair, or the vehicle can’t be repaired at that time, let us know.

If your vehicle leaves the road as a result of an accident, roadside assistance will arrange for recovery of your vehicle and luggage or cargo. You won’t be charged a fee for towing the vehicle after an accident, unless the accident was caused by a [prohibited use](https://help.turo.com/prohibited-uses-Hyi0E4l49).

**If the vehicle can still be driven after an accident,** contact your host to let them know. Then continue your trip and report the damage via our [damage reporting center](https://turo.com/resolutions) within 24 hours from the time of the incident.

## Accident reporting

* **Driver information:** Record the other driver’s full name, address, and contact information.
* **Registration details:** Get the vehicle registration number and insurance provider information.

* **Evidence collection:** Take clear photos of the other vehicle and all damage.

* **Witness details:** Get the contact information of any witnesses.

* **Incident card:** Provide all parties involved with the information on the incident information card your host left in the vehicle for you.

## Roadside service costs

All trips include 24/7 roadside assistance for mechanical issues and accidents; however, guests will be fully liable if they violate the [Terms of service](https://turo.com/policies/terms), engage in any [Prohibited uses](https://help.turo.com/prohibited-uses-Hyi0E4l49), or otherwise intentionally, recklessly, or with wanton disregard, misuse the vehicle.

Guests have the option to purchase enhanced roadside assistance when booking a trip to reduce out-of-pocket costs if service is needed or non-mechanical issues. If you purchase Enhanced roadside assistance, it is non-refundable whether you have a non-mechanical issue on your trip or not.

These services for non-mechanical issues are covered at no cost for guests who purchase Enhanced roadside assistance, except for guest-at-fault vehicle impound recovery, which has a minimum charge of $399. Guests who do not purchase this add-on will be charged up to $199 for all services, except for towing and guest-at-fault vehicle impound recovery.

## Vehicle and key responsibility

If the vehicle is in an unsafe location, guests should stay nearby, keep the vehicle in sight, and hand over the keys once help arrives. If you’re uncomfortable doing so, leave the keys in an out-of-sight location in the vehicle such as the center console or glove compartment. You’ll be responsible for all costs if the keys go missing or the vehicle is damaged while waiting for roadside assistance. If the vehicle is not at the location you reported when roadside arrives, Turo will charge you a $40 “gone on arrival” fee.

## Restrictions

Roadside assistance is not available if a guest violates Turo’s terms of service, allows an unauthorized driver to use the vehicle, or intentionally causes damage or misuses the vehicle. Turo cannot assist guests with roadside requests if they’re in a restricted tow zone. It is not available for civil commotions or civil unrest. Nor is it available for damage resulting from acts of war, or nuclear energy or attacks. Turo will provide roadside assistance, when possible, in the event of a natural disaster within a timeframe that conditions allow. It doesn’t extend to the cost of fuel, insurance, or road charges/tolls.
