## Roadside assistance in Canada

#### Availability

Instruct guests to call 1-888-391-0460 if they contact you for roadside assistance, which is available 24/7 for accidents, breakdowns, and other issues.

#### Charges

Turo covers the cost to dispatch assistance to your vehicle’s location. Depending on the circumstances and services provided, you may be responsible for the roadside fee. We charge a flat roadside service fee to protect you from unpredictable costs from third-party service providers, such as charges for fuel, material expenses, labor, or mileage charges.

We’ll charge you a violation fee if service was needed because the vehicle was mechanically unsound or improperly maintained. If roadside service is needed because of an accident, we won’t charge you for roadside service costs unless we find you violated Turo policy. In that case, you’d be responsible for the full cost of the roadside services and any additional charges tied to the policy violation.

Your responsibility for charges for roadside service are separate and independent from your guest’s responsibility. We may charge your guest if they didn't purchase a protection plan, regardless of whether you were charged, or if service was needed because of carelessness, abuse, or a violation of Turo policy.

## Safety and cost-saving measures

The following can help ensure your guest’s safety and, in some cases, help you save money:

* **Keep a copy of the Turo** [**incident information card**](https://help.turo.com/en_us/incident-information-card-SJJELVe4c) **in your vehicle** so guests have instructions for contacting roadside assistance and proof of financial responsibility
* **Keep Turo’s roadside assistance number — 1-888-391-0460 — handy** so you can share it with guests who contact you to report a breakdown, an accident that leaves the vehicle undriveable, or an issue that requires roadside help. If your guest gets into an accident and the vehicle is still driveable, have them  [report the damage](https://turo.com/resolutions)  within 24 hours
* **Keep a full-size replacement tire in your vehicle** and tell guests where to find it
* **Include important vehicle operating instructions in the “Car description” field in of your vehicle listing** so guests know what fuel to use, where to find he EV charging plug, how automatic features work, and more
* **Consider whether to have your own roadside assistance provider** so they can  manage roadside issues and you can avoid charges from Turo in case you’re liable for the costs

## Roadside service costs

We’ll cover the cost to dispatch help to your location but you will have to pay for the services provided if they were needed because the vehicle was mechanically unsound or improperly maintained. Your guest may be responsible if service was needed because of carelessness, abuse, or a violation of Turo policy.

#### Flat tires

If your guest gets a flat tire on your trip, you may be responsible for the cost to repair or replace the tire if we find that the flat was due to neglect or poor maintenance. Read more about [flat tire charges.](https://help.turo.com/flat-tire-damage-or-hosts-ByZ78NlNq)

#### On-the-spot assistance

If your guest is unable to drive the vehicle, roadside assistance will, whenever possible, fix the vehicle so that it’s operational. If this light-duty assistance is successful but we find that the issue was due to poor maintenance or wear and tear, we’ll charge you a $60 service fee. Services include vehicle jumpstarts, lockout services, fuel delivery, and tire changes.

## Towing

#### Towing eligibility

When arranging roadside assistance, we may contact you to ask for a drop-off location to tow the vehicle. If we’re unable to reach you, roadside assistance will tow the vehicle to the nearest secure facility. If you don’t respond to requests for drop-off locations or documentation (including but not limited to a hold harmless agreement, an authorization to release a vehicle from a tow yard, and a request for title/registration) within 24 hours of receiving a request, you may be responsible for storage fees.

**Roadside assistance will tow your vehicle if:**

* There are any acceptable mid-trip issues like breakdowns, no spare tire available, jump fails, or the vehicle is abandoned
* Mid-trip or post-trip vehicle recovery is needed for a vehicle that was impounded s or transport/secondary tow orders
* Turo approved a one-way trip for a vehicle swap or replacement
* There are NSD (our third party towing company) or Turo failures like NSD canceled orders, NSD system/service provider errors or wrong service sent (light duty when tow needed)

**Roadside assistance won’t tow your vehicle if:**

* The vehicle is in a restricted tow zone in Canada. In the Greater Toronto Area, call 511. In the Greater Montreal Area, call 911.
* There are pre-trip or outside of trip issues like the vehicle could not make it to the trip-delivery location, the vehicle can otherwise not meet the terms of the trip-start, or the vehicle is already at the host home/primary location but the host wants it towed somewhere else.
* The trip was canceled or didn’t take place because of a no-show by either host or guest
* A reservation with the one-way trip extra is applied
* Host gave guest instructions that violate Turo prohibited uses policies
* Host self-recovered the vehicle after a mid-trip issue, but is requesting Turo tow it to another location
* The vehicle is inside an impound lot

#### Towing costs

**Maintenance issue/ Wear and tear –** If the tow is needed due to a maintenance issue or wear and tear, we’ll charge you 100% of the roadside assistance cost up to $400, and you may lose your trip earnings for unused days of the affected trip.

**Operable vehicle** – If your vehicle is operable with keys and you ask that roadside services tow it to a location that’s more than 75 miles away, we’ll arrange for transport and charge you $400. The $400 charge will apply if you request or if a secondary tow or transport is needed to retrieve your vehicle from a storage lot, impound lot, or other holding facility.

**Gone on arrival** – If you or a designee retrieve the vehicle and it’s not there when roadside assistance arrives, we’ll charge you a $40 gone-on-arrival fee.

**Misrepresentation** – We’ll charge you up to $400 for the tow and may withhold earnings If we discover you’ve misrepresented the reason for a tow.

**You’re not responsible for towing costs** if the tow is needed because of an accident unless we find you violated Turo policy. In that case, you’d be responsible for the full cost of the roadside services and any [additional charges](https://help.turo.com/host-fees-r1aIIExV5) tied to the policy violation.

Roadside assistance isn't available if you or your guest violate Turo’s [Terms of Service](https://turo.com/policies/terms), allow an [unauthorized driver](https://help.turo.com/adding-a-driver-to-a-trip-HksENgV5) to use the vehicle, or intentionally cause damage or misuse the vehicle. It’s not available for civil commotions or civil unrest. Nor is it available for damage resulting from acts of war, nuclear energy, or attacks. Roadside assistance isn't available for earthquakes or weather-related incidents (flood, storms, etc). It doesn’t extend to the cost of fuel, insurance, or road charges/tolls.
