## Roadside assistance

### Availability

Instruct guests to call (1) 415-965-4525 if they contact you for roadside assistance, which is available 24/7 for accidents, breakdowns, and other issues.

### Charges

Turo covers the cost to dispatch assistance to your vehicle’s location. Depending on the circumstances and services provided, you may be responsible for a roadside service fee. We charge a flat roadside service fee to protect you from unpredictable costs from third-party service providers, such as charges for fuel, material expenses, labor, or mileage charges.

We’ll charge you a violation fee if service was needed because the vehicle was mechanically unsound or improperly maintained. If roadside service is needed because of an accident, we will not charge you for roadside service costs unless we find you violated Turo policy. In that case, you would be responsible for the full cost of the roadside services and any additional charges tied to the policy violation.

Your responsibility for charges for roadside service are separate and independent from your guest’s responsibility. We may charge your guest if they did not purchase a protection plan, regardless of whether you were charged, or if service was needed because of carelessness, abuse, or a violation of Turo policy. Guests purchasing the enhanced roadside add-on does not preclude you from being charged for roadside service.

## Safety and cost-saving measures

* **Keep a copy of the Turo** [**incident information card**](https://help.turo.com/incident-information-card-SJJELVe4c) **in your vehicle** so guests have instructions for contacting roadside assistance and proof of financial responsibility

* **Keep Turo’s roadside assistance number handy: +1 (415) 965-4525.** Share the number with guests who contact you to report a breakdown, an accident that leaves the vehicle undriveable, or an issue that requires roadside help. If your guest gets into an accident and the vehicle is still driveable, have them [report the damage](https://turo.com/resolutions)  within 24 hours

* **Keep a full-size replacement tire in your vehicle** and tell guests where to find the replacement tire.

* **Include important vehicle operating instructions in your scheduled messages** so guests know what fuel to use, where to find the EV charging plug, how automatic features work, and more

* **Consider whether to have your own roadside assistance provider** so they can  manage roadside issues, and you can avoid charges from Turo in the event you’re liable for the costs

## Roadside services

### Flat tires

If your guest gets a flat tire on your trip, you may be responsible for the cost to repair or replace the tire if we find that the flat was due to neglect or poor maintenance. Read more about [flat tire charges.](https://help.turo.com/flat-tire-damage-or-hosts-ByZ78NlNq)

### On-the-spot assistance

If your guest is unable to drive the vehicle, roadside assistance will, whenever possible, fix the vehicle so that the vehicle is operational. If this light-duty assistance is successful but we find that the issue was due to poor maintenance or wear and tear, we’ll charge you a $60 roadside service fee. Services include vehicle jumpstarts, lockout services, fuel delivery, and tire changes.

## Towing services

### Towing eligibility

When arranging roadside assistance, we may contact you to ask for a drop-off location to tow the vehicle. If we’re unable to reach you, roadside assistance will tow the vehicle to the nearest secure facility. If you do not respond to requests for drop-off locations or documentation (including but not limited to a hold harmless agreement, an authorization to release a vehicle from a tow yard, and a request for title/registration) within 24 hours of receiving a request, you may be responsible for storage fees.

#### Four circumstances where you’ll be eligible for vehicle tow

Your vehicle suffers an acceptable mid-trip issue such as a breakdown, a flat tire with no spare, a failed jump-start, or a guest abandons your vehicle.

You do not have an open claim and require mid-trip or post-trip vehicle recovery because the vehicle is impounded or for transport or secondary tow orders.

Turo approves a one-way trip for a vehicle swap or replacement.

Turo or our third-party towing company fails to complete a service due to a canceled order, system/service provider error, or sending the wrong service (light duty when tow needed).

#### Seven circumstances were you will not be eligible for vehicle tow

Vehicle suffers pre- or post-trip issues like not reaching the delivery location or otherwise not meeting the terms of trip-start.

Vehicle is at the vehicle’s home location, and the host requests a tow to a different location.

Trip was canceled or did not take place because of a host or guest no-show.

Vehicle is at the drop-off location, and the trip includes a one-way trip Extra.

Host provides instructions to the guest that violate Turo’s [prohibited uses policies](http://help.turo.com/prohibited-uses-Hyi0E4l49).

Host self-recovers the vehicle after a mid-trip issue but requests that Turo transport the vehicle to another location.

Vehicle has a claim for reimbursement under the host earnings plan.

### Maintenance issue/ Wear and tear

If the tow is needed due to a maintenance issue or wear and tear, we’ll charge you a $350 roadside service fee and possibly a $100 violation fee. You may also lose your trip earnings for unused days of the affected trip.

### Operable vehicle

If your vehicle is operable with keys and you ask that roadside services tow the vehicle to a location that’s more than 75 miles away, we’ll arrange for transport and charge you a $350 roadside service fee and possibly a $100 violation fee. This fee applies if you request or if a secondary tow or transport is needed to retrieve your vehicle from a storage lot, impound lot, or other holding facility.

### Gone on arrival

If you or a designee retrieve the vehicle and the vehicle is not there when roadside assistance arrives, we’ll charge you a $40 service fee.

### Misrepresentation

We’ll charge a $350 service fee for the tow and may withhold earnings if we discover you’ve misrepresented the reason for a tow.

Roadside assistance is not available for civil commotions or civil unrest. Nor is roadside assistance available for damage resulting from acts of war, nuclear energy, or attacks. Roadside assistance is not available for earthquakes or weather-related incidents (flood, storms, etc). Roadside assistance does not extend to the cost of fuel, insurance, or road charges/tolls.
