## Turo’s safety recall process

Turo uses your vehicle’s vehicle identification number (VIN) to check for safety recalls on all new listings. We continue to check as long as a vehicle remains on our platform.

**If you receive a safety recall notice**, you must remove that vehicle from Turo as soon as possible and no later than 72 hours after being notified.

To cancel an upcoming trip due to a safety recall without being charged a cancellation fee, or if you’ve already canceled, and we didn’t excuse the fee, contact us. Tap the **"Get help"** button below to reach our AI assistant and ask to be connected to an agent.

If you don’t remove the vehicle in this timeframe and/or cancel upcoming trips until the recall is resolved, your earnings plan may be voided on any trips you complete with a vehicle with an active safety recall.

**If we find a safety recall during the listing process,** we’ll alert you in the listing flow, and you’ll be unable to finish listing your vehicle.

**If we find a safety recall on a listed vehicle,** **we’ll:**

* notify you via email and text
* link to the recall at the bottom of the settings page for your vehicle listing
* temporarily restrict your vehicle from new bookings to give the dealership time to make repairs
* cancel upcoming trips penalty-free if your vehicle is located in California or Hawaii; we’ll cancel trips seven days before their scheduled start date **_OR_** immediately if the trip starts within seven days of the recall notice

## State safety recall regulations

[States with car sharing regulations](https://help.turo.com/car-sharing-regulations-SJTQH4lV5) have requirements for how hosts in those states must handle a vehicle safety recall. Except for California and Hawaii, hosts in regulated states are subject to these rules **in addition to** the guidelines listed in Turo’s safety recall process above:

* If you receive a safety recall notice while a guest has possession of your vehicle, you must notify Turo and your guest of the recall as soon as possible
* You must not re-list your vehicle until you’ve made the repair
