## About temporary licenses

A temporary license, (aka, temporary driving permit), is a paper document that allows you to legally drive for a defined period while you wait for your license to be issued or arrive in the mail. Turo accepts, with some conditions, temporary licenses in the US and Canada only. A learner’s permit (aka, instruction permit) is not a temporary license, and Turo doesn’t accept learner’s permits.

## Guidelines for temporary licenses in the US

If you’re using a temporary license for a trip in the US, you must be prepared to present:

*   Temporary license with your photo on it; **_OR_** 
*   Temporary license with no photo **_and_** another government ID with photo

Your first and last name and date of birth must match exactly on both documents and the  license must be valid at the start and through the end of the trip.
