## Policy

### External tracker requirements

To ensure vehicle security, Turo requires vehicles worth €25,000 or more and all vehicles less than 10 years old to be fitted with an activated external tracker.

To comply with this policy, you must:

*   Install an external tracker even if the vehicle has an internal tracker installed by the manufacturer;

* Ensure that you renew your tracker or subscription on the due date to guarantee continuity of service; and

* Provide a copy of the declaration of theft (or the relevant FOVeS number) within 24 hours of becoming aware of the theft or in case of late return within 24 hours of the trip’s scheduled end.

**Important:** [Turo prohibits the use of AirTags in vehicles as an active tracking device](https://help.turo.com/en_us/tracking-and-technology-devices-SkF48Nl49).

### External tracker options

#### MySmartObject tracker

**Special offer**

Turo offers hosts a special deal negotiated with its trusted partner, MySmartObject.

To take advantage of this offer, follow this link:  [https://mysmartobject.com/solutions/turo](https://mysmartobject.com/solutions/turo).

In the event of a late return or theft, Turo will be able to access the vehicle's location data and share that data with law enforcement to maximise the chances of recovering the vehicle as quickly as possible. By installing the tracker, you understand and consent to this access for this purpose.

#### Alternative tracker solution

You may install a tracker solution other than the MySmartObject solution, but the tracker must include:

*   Autonomous GPS-LTE-M -LBS communication

* Position reading at least once a day (proof of life)

*   CE certification

In the event of a late return or theft, you must cooperate with Turo to recover the vehicle, including providing the vehicle's location data as soon as possible and, at the latest, within 24 hours of the discovery of the theft or of the planned end date of the trip if the return is late.

### Internal tracker (OEM) requirements

For vehicles valued at €25,000 or more and for all vehicles less than 10 years old that are equipped with an internal tracker (OEM), hosts must give Turo and its trusted partners the right of access to the vehicle's location data in the event of a late return or theft. The data will only be accessed and shared with law enforcement in the event of a late return or theft for vehicle recovery and investigation purposes. Turo will send you **a** **letter of agreement for electronic signature** to that effect.

## Violations

Hosts in the following situations will be in violation of this policy:

*   Your vehicle is worth €25,000 or more, or is less than 10 years old and not fitted with an external tracker;

* You fail to report the theft or late return (and file a police report) within the external tracker requirements’ specified time limit.

* You fail to report the theft or late return to Turo and file a police report within 24 hours of becoming aware of the theft or in case of late return within 24 hours of the trip’s scheduled end.

*   You have an external tracker other than a MySmartObject tracker and have not provided access to your vehicle location data within the specified period;

* Your vehicle is equipped with an OEM tracker and you have not signed the letter-agreement and provided access to the vehicle location data within the specified period.

If you violate this policy, your protection plan will not apply and you will be exposed to a remaining charge of €25,000 in the event of theft, vehicle not returned, or damage claim for late return.

This means that you will not receive any compensation for these events from Turo up to the limit of €25,000, which corresponds to our partner insurer's excess.

**Important**: Failure to comply with any deadline in Turo’s tracker policy or other policies may result in your entire claim being denied.
