## Guest requests to travel abroad

If your guest wants to travel to the EU, they must contact you via Turo messaging to get your approval. If you approve their travel plans, you must take additional steps to prepare for the trip. If you don’t approve their travel plans, you can cancel the trip penalty-free.

You approve a guest’s request to travel to the EU

* Contact Turo to share the guest’s travel plans
* Submit and pay for a [Vehicle on Hire Certificate](https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/travel/driving-in-europe/vehicle-on-hire/) (VE103R) at least a week _before_ the trip and put a copy in your vehicle for the guest
* Ensure your MOT, insurance, and road tax are current
* Ensure your vehicle is mechanically sound and can safely make the trip
* Avoid unexpected costs by ensuring the vehicle has breakdown cover; Turo’s roadside provider for the UK doesn’t cover the EU

You don’t approve a guest’s travel to the EU

1. Open the booked trip and tap/click **“Change trip”**
2. Select **“I’m uncomfortable with this trip”**
3. Wait for an agent to contact you to confirm the cancellation and remove any auto-applied penalty charges

## How accidents or roadside incidents are managed for EU travel

If your guest is involved in an accident or has a roadside incident in the EU, they must contact you so you can manage the issue with your breakdown cover. You and your guest must determine and manage responsibility for the cost of breakdown cover. However, if your guest failed to get your permission to travel abroad and required roadside assistance, they’ll be responsible for the cost, regardless of which of you caused the need for service.
