This guide explains why and how to take and upload pre- and post-trip photos. This article does not cover damage claim filing processes, protection plans, or host-specific return requirements.

## Why take trip photos

The Turo system prompts guests to take and upload photos to document the vehicle’s condition and cleanliness pre- and post-trip within 24 hours of the trip’s start and end times. Photos help support guests with settling payment disputes, confirming late return claims, assessing damage claim eligibility, and monitoring vehicle safety. Make sure all photos are well-lit and clear.

## Taking trip photos

Use the Turo app to take photos, apply a timestamp, and upload photos to **Trip photos**. Guests can also upload photos taken with a phone’s camera.

**Important:** Ensure all photos contain metadata showing date, time, and geolocation

If there is trouble uploading photos via the app, upload photos via the Turo.com website.

* **Lockbox:** A photo of the closed lockbox.
