Wear and tear

Coverage for exterior wear and tear is available to some hosts in the US and Australia.

Eligibility

US hosts

For eligible vehicles under the 60 plan, Turo is responsible for reimbursing exterior wear and tear costs for confirmed, new physical damage that is less than 3” only. There’s no reimbursement for interior wear and tear.

Turo considers vehicles that have fewer than 24,000 miles AND are two years old or less, eligible for the wear and tear benefit and vehicles in the Super Deluxe class. Turo uses a third-party vehicle valuation vendor to determine the Total Market Value of vehicles listed on our platform, which determines vehicle class on the platform.

Australia hosts

We may protect the reasonable cost of exterior wear and tear to the protected vehicle that occurs during the protection period if you’ve selected the 65 Plan and the protected vehicle is either:

  • Less than two years old and has traveled less than 40,000km; OR
  • Is classified by us as Deluxe or Super Deluxe

There’s no reimbursement for interior wear and tear.

Exterior wear and tear

Exterior wear and tear is any dings, dents, cracks, or scratches to the vehicle's exterior body that are three inches (or seven and a half centimeters) in diameter or less. It includes but isn’t limited to, rims, wheels, hubcaps, any painted or textured area for the body of the vehicle, and moldings. It doesn’t include cracked or chipped glass caused by rocks or other debris.

Wear and tear damage must be tied to a guest trip. Guests aren’t responsible for wear and tear from normal vehicle use.

Submit a report for wear and tear no more than 24 hours after the end of the trip that resulted in the discovery of the wear and tear.
